Shigra Tote Bags for Women

Shigras - Woven Tote Bags with tradition

The word "shigra" means "handbag" in the kichwa language of our indigenous people of the Andes region, in South America. These fashionable woven tote bags are made of a natural fiber called "cabuya" that is obtained from a plant native to the mountain region of Ecuador. These unique woven handbags are ethically produced by skillful hands applying century old techniques that are passed on from generation to generation.

Artisanal Labor Time: It takes an artisan approximately 3 to 6 weeks to weave a handbag, depending on the size and details.

Authentic Panama* Hats for Women & Men

NOT a Panama* Hat
*This is a hat handwoven in Ecuador

Wrongfully referred as Panama* Hat, this Toquilla Straw Hat is made in Ecuador. It is worth telling the story of the true origin of the Panama* Hats in order to honor the Ecuadorian artisans that spend hours on the weaving of these beautiful straw fedora hats. Not only is this unique accessory rich in ancient traditions, but it is also an eco-friendly product because it is made of an organic fiber gained from the plaited leaves of the plant known locally as the toquilla palm or jipijapa palm. For this reason, this artisanal accessory is also known as Jipijapa Hat.

Let us inspire you with our exquisite and unique collection of Panama* Straw Hats; woven traditionally but designed with a contemporary touch.

Artisanal Labor Time: Depending on the quality and finesse of the weaver and desired hat, it can take anywhere from 1 day to 8 months to complete a Toquilla Fedora Hat.
